Focus on safety
The safety of our passengers and staff is our number one priority. In fact, we continually develop and implement safety standards that go beyond required government compliance. At Crown Coaches, we remain committed to continually raising the bar by investing in skilled drivers and technicians, which means that behind the wheel of our world-class fleet is a team of professionals whose main concern is your safety. Our drivers have extensive road experience, reinforced by rigorous training, allowing them to navigate unexpected weather, traffic and tight schedules to get you to your destination comfortably, safely and on time.
In line with guidance from transport regulators and the Australian Government, we have developed a COVID Safe Plan, which includes enhanced cleaning procedures.
Safety
Equipped with the latest GPS technology and enhanced safety features, our fleet of buses receive routine attention from industry leading technicians, including servicing and inspections plus our on-board diagnostic system conducts an electronic safety check of each vehicle. Safety features on our buses include electronic controlled air suspension, disc brakes with wear monitoring and automatic adjustment, CCTV providing 360-degree exterior vision and safety cameras on board with voice recording as well as pedestrian safety monitoring, geo-fencing for vehicle exclusion zones and risk assessment on all routes.
Ensuring children are safely transported on our school charters, we keep passenger manifests for school runs and excursions as well as providing SMS notifications for parents in the event of traffic delays. Additionally, we have an exclusive parent/children app providing real-time bus location tracking, giving parents peace of mind when their children are travelling with us.
Safety at a glance
Lane Departure Warning
The Lane Assist continuously monitors the distance of the bus from the lane markings. As soon as the vehicle crosses any of the markings, the driver is alerted by a pulsation in the seat.
Electronic Stability Program
An unanticipated obstacle on the road.
Thanks to the Electronic Stability Program the evasive manoeuvre is successful without the bus swerving.
Emergency Braking System
The Advanced Emergency Braking System initiates partial and full braking as part of an ascending scale of warnings, so as to avoid a rear-end collision or to reduce damage in the event of an accident.
Anti-lock brake system
The ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) distributes the braking forces acting on the individual wheels so that even in an emergency braking situation no wheel is locked for any length of time.
Acceleration skid control
The ASR (acceleration skid control) prevents wheelspin when driving away on a slippery surface. It provides no more power than the drive wheels are able to transfer to the road surface.
All Vehicles Seat-belted
Providing an uncompromising level of safety has always been the highest priority for the Crown Coaches team. Travel with confidence.

At Crown Coaches, our reputation is built on exceptional service and our continual commitment to investing in the maintenance of our fleet. Dedicated to providing outstanding service to passengers no matter their mobility challengers, we are proud to offer Victoria’s largest fleet of wheelchair accessible vehicles. As a family business, we promote a welcoming and inclusive environment on board every one of our buses.
Our wheelchair accessible buses feature automatic and manual additional steps as well as suspension that lowers to aid with boarding and alighting the bus plus wheelchair hoists and flip out ramps. On-board we have five-point restraints for wheelchairs and space for the storage of mobility equipment. All buses in our fleet feature dark window tinting for privacy and reducing vehicle temperature.
Sustainability
Dedicated to delivering clean, sustainable transport, our depot has introduced a range of company wide initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. With one of the biggest Euro 6 fleets in Australia, we were the first charter bus company in Australia to purchase vehicles that met both Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards, well before they were mandatory.
As part of our commitment to protecting the environment, our fleet of buses have been fitted with 105Kw of solar panels and 67.5Kw of battery storage. On average, over three quarters of our daily power requirements are generated by renewable sources plus we average in excess of 12 ton in reduced CO2 each month. All lighting in our bus depots utilise low voltage LED bulbs and more than 66% of our fleet are equal to or in excess of the current emission standard. With capacity for 300,000 litres of water, we use recycled water to wash our buses and for our toilets and we have a recycling program both in our workshop and office for oil, rags and paper.
